The Challenge
The ambition was to create a visitor destination that reflected the company’s heritage while providing a modern retail experience. The underused west wing of Eastfield Mill required substantial reconfiguration, including full roof replacement, to make the space viable. The challenge was to achieve this without losing the mill’s industrial identity or disrupting ongoing operations.
Our Approach
Externally, the historic fabric of the mill was retained and enhanced, ensuring architectural continuity with the wider site. Internally, the design introduced a more contemporary aesthetic, with polished concrete floors, retail-standard lighting, and open-plan layouts. The restructured space accommodates a generous retail floor alongside a café, extending the visitor experience beyond shopping.
