Aitken Turnbull Architects wins SBBEA medium business of the year award 2024

We are thrilled to announce that we have won the award for Medium Business of the Year at the 2024 Scottish Borders Business Excellence Awards (SBBEA).

The event, held on Friday night at the beautiful Peebles Hydro, celebrated the best of local business across the region. It was a fantastic evening, with numerous businesses from the Scottish Borders gathering to showcase their achievements.

Operating across the UK from our studios in Galashiels, Edinburgh, Manchester, and Dumfries, our team of 30 includes architects, technical staff, designers, and support personnel. Over the past 12 months, we have focused on growth, fostering a culture of excellence, and exploring how we can genuinely engage with and impact our communities.

As a practice, our roots trace back to 1887 and the Hawick practice of J.P. Allison. While our work now spans the UK, and our studio network covers Southern and Central Scotland as well as Northern England, we remain proud of our Borders heritage and our ongoing commitment to the area.

“We are honoured to have received this award. It’s a fantastic recognition for the whole team, a testament to where we’re from, what we’ve achieved, and how exciting our future is”

Alasdair Rankin

Managing Director

We are dedicated to supporting local employment, which we achieve by providing multiple pathways into the workforce. This includes recruiting from local secondary schools as part of our apprenticeship program and hiring graduates from Heriot-Watt University.

Our commitment to the Scottish Borders and all of our studio locations extends beyond architecture; we are passionate about nurturing the next generation of talent and making a lasting impact on the communities we serve. The Medium Business of the Year award is a wonderful reflection of our dedication to both professional excellence and community-driven success.
