What is GDPR?

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation, Europe’s new framework for data protection laws – it replaces the previous 1998 data protection directive, upon which current UK law is based. Aitken Turnbull Architects are committed to respecting the privacy of our clients, employees and other contacts, and protecting your information from misuse or unauthorised disclosure and complying with privacy laws. This privacy statement explains how we collect and use personal information about you.



Personal data we handle

To carry out our role, we handle personal data from a range of sources. These include:

  •  Employees
  • Contractors, consultants and other professional experts
  •  Businesses or other contacts



What personal information we collect

We collect personal information to allow us to carry out our architectural and technical services to all our Clients. This enables us to offer a highly professional and efficient service. This often includes the collection of personal data such as full name, address, contact phone numbers and an email address. We will always ask you directly for your information and will only use the information you consent to at all times.



How we use your personal information

The purposes for which personal information is processed may include any or all of the following:

  • Deliver architectural services
  • Process planning and building warrant applications with the relevant local authority
  • Communication by post, email or telephone
  • Maintain records
  • Process financial transactions



Who we share your personal information with

We will not share your personal data with any third party unless agreed with you beforehand. Personal Information will only be shared when necessary to carry out our service to you. Such as:

  • Local authorities for planning and building warrant approval
  • Government authority consultants such as SEPA
  • Contractors and Consultants when tendering or obtaining quotes for building works
  • Communicating with you during the course of the commission



How long we retain your personal information for

We will retain your personal information on file for as long as you remain our client in order to continue to deliver services to you. Following conclusion of our commission we will continue to retain information in line with our statutory responsibilities.


Holding personal information outside the EEA

We do not hold any personal information outside of the European Economic Area (EEA).



YOUR RIGHTS

Access to your information – You have the right to request a copy of the personal information about you that we hold at any time.



Changes to our privacy statement

We keep this privacy statement under regular review and will place any updates on this website. Paper copies of the privacy statement may also be obtained from us on request. This privacy statement was last updated on 25th  May 2018.
