Leet Haugh

A new 158 home community on the edge of the historic Hirsel Estate with direct access to 3,000 acres of rural landscape to the west of Coldstream.

The ‘estate’ structure provides a range of accommodation from the gate lodges at the site entrance to the main house, farm house and factors houses arranged around the traditional village green, the stables mews, mill buildings and workers cottages.

Through good working relationships with the client and the multidisciplinary design team the site has been planned and designed with great sensitivity in line with the Scottish Government new policy documents ‘Designing Streets’ and ‘Placemaking’, and Scottish Borders Council are promoting the site as an Exemplar Development.

This project has won the Placemaking Category in the Scottish Borders Design Award 2016, and has been commended in the Berwickshire Civic Society Architectural Award 2015.
