AITKEN TURNBULL CELEBRATES RECOGNITION IN URBAN REALM’S TOP 100

Aitken Turnbull is delighted to announce our inclusion in this year’s Urban Realm Top 100 Winter Edition, where we proudly secured the 37th spot! This achievement marks an impressive climb of 23 places from last year, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

The Urban Realm Top 100 is more than just a list; it’s a dynamic and comprehensive representation of the leading architectural practices across Scotland. Each year, Urban Realm recognises firms that significantly contribute to the industry. The 2024 edition focuses on Passivhaus design, retrofitting, and employee-owned trailblazers, highlighting practices that excel in these innovative areas.

In this edition, our Managing Director, Alasdair Rankin, shared his thoughts on the evolving importance of retrofitting in modern design:

“From the conversion of former mills, factories and schools into residential accommodation; to reworking hospital wards as the clinical need or approach changes; to repurposing listed buildings and structures for community use and redesigning workspaces to accommodate the change in occupier requirements in contemporary work settings. We see continued growth in all of these project typologies the greatest change is the increased interest in pursuing these types of projects.”

This edition also highlights our recently completed projects, including the Halifax Headquarters, which we have been diligently working on over the past year. Additionally, we successfully restored a Government building in Croydon. These projects underscore our commitment to demonstrate our ability to deliver at scale, and quality anywhere in the UK.

As we kick off the year with this fantastic recognition, we look forward to sharing more exciting updates soon!
