The house is split level in response to the site, and this provides a hierarchy of spaces, with the lounge and dining room having a 3m high timber lined 'wave' form ceiling. These two reception rooms are open plan and separated only by a freestanding stone built fireplace.
All the principle rooms have a south facing aspect, and enjoy magnificent views across the River Teviot, Wilton parklands and the town of Hawick beyond. Construction is timber frame, and this method of building allows a high degree of insulation to be incorporated into the design. External materials - facing brick walls and concrete interlocking roof tiles - were selected to compliment the landscaped setting.
