Cancer Information and Support Centre, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital

The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is a very large monolithic building filling almost completely its extensive site area. The Oncology department wished to provide additional information and support facilities for patients but with only a very limited potential to achieve this within the existing footprint.

A design for an extension was devised mimicking an existing fabric canopy and suspended over a void enabling the required facilities to be provided in a very tight area. Site access to Contractors areas was severely restricted as all existing neighbouring areas continued to function during the work on site.
