The Practice was formed in 1959 on the amalgamation of two long established firms, the older one, J. P. Alison, having been founded in 1887.
The head office of Aitken Turnbull is in Galashiels, with other offices in Hawick, Duns, Dumfries and Edinburgh.

The Associates support the Directors in all areas and between them have around 100 years of service to Aitken Turnbull.
Aitken Turnbull's present compliment of 27 personnel (comprising 4 registered architects, 17 architectural technologists and 6 administrative staff) provides the resources to undertake large-scale projects efficiently, and the ability to accommodate numerous varied developments simultaneously.
The Practice has extensive experience in a wide range of building types including commercial, industrial, housing and health projects. We have also developed specialist skills in conservation and repair of Historic and Listed Buildings and have been involved in several award winning restoration schemes.
